Plowden & Thompson uses several standard glass mixture combinations one of which
soda glass is probably the most basic.

Soda glass is used when a basic product is required with no extra properties of strength, heat resistance, cutting ability or brilliance. Such products can include inexpensive plain table glass as found in supermarkets, window panes, bottles and jars. It tends to be used where longevity is not of importance.

It should ne noted that soda glass contains only 23% of soda carbonate and the glass it makes can shatter quite easily, hence supermarket table glasses do smash quite easily.

It is, however, a widely used type of glass and has its place within the marketplace. It is normally produced in high volumes.

In all cases we are able to make to your own specifications if required.
